Earned Leather

I got back this evening from a going away party for a friend, to whom I presented a piece of earned leather.

It was a long night, a drive to and from Lexington, a ceremony there.  I have to be up again bright and early.

So this will be very short.

I am pleased to note that I had tears in people’s eyes during the ceremony.  I always say that if I can’t make someone cry during a leather presentation, I didn’t do it right.

Giving a piece of earned leather makes someone a part of my leather family.

I have given eight pieces of leather in my life.  I will give another piece at GLLA this year, and I expect to give two more pieces at the munch in November.

My family grows.

  1. I just found your blog, though Vanillamom’s link, and I had heard about you before through reading Aisha’s blog. It’s so interesting to read a thoughtful blog written from the perspective of a Dominant on things that interest me. I’ll be back to read the rest!

    • Thanks for the kind words. I have enjoyed writing more than I expected I would, anyway, but it’s become part of the routine, and it’s interesting to me how they start out as one thing and end up being another.

I’ll look forward to comments in the future.

  2. i’ve seen you present earned leather twice, and yes, it brought tears to my eyes each time. It was one of the first experiences i had at a munch, before i ever talked with you. A memory that will linger forever, i think.

    • I do mean for a presentation of earned leather to be moving. I think part of it is remembering where we come from, the kinds of risks that used to be required just to be kinky in any way, to find others who shared your kinkiness.

One of the interesting things about the presentation was that it was done in a gay male leather bar, and yet the leather was presented by two leatherwomen.

The crowd was astonishingly respectful, too, which was very nice.
